SIRG engages in research that is heavily implicated in community development initiatives, often with equity-denied populations and within arts-based modalities. Our work informs the ways in which we collaborate with members of Indigenous communities, survivors of war and torture, poverty advocates, immigrant and refugee communities, as well as other interest-holders. Having relationships with various community partners means that we are able to forge authentic research partnerships when our collaborators call upon us to do so.
For example, The Healing of the Seven Generations, which is a community-based healing project for survivors and intergenerational survivors of the residential school system, has worked extensively with SIRG relative to exploring project evaluations, grant proposals, as well as several culturally relevant training initiatives.
